What “immune support” does and does not mean
Your immune system is a whole network, not a switch you flip with one nutrient. Chan’s nutrition and immunity briefing is direct: no single food or vitamin “boosts” immunity on its own. Sleep, a varied diet, movement, low smoke exposure, and ordinary hygiene do most of the work.

Clients usually ask about vitamin C and zinc. Both show up in ordinary nutrition as nutrients involved in normal immune-cell function. They are not magic. MedlinePlus’s zinc page describes zinc as a trace mineral the body uses in many cell processes, including the defensive system. Food sources come first: meat, shellfish, legumes, nuts, and whole grains. High-dose zinc on your own can cause nausea and can crowd out other minerals, so more is not automatically better.
- Sleep. Harvard lists rest as one of the basic supports for a healthy immune system.
- Food and fluids. A varied plate and enough water still beat a single supplement.
- Hands, air, and crowding. Ordinary hygiene and staying home when you are sick protect other people too.
- Do not smoke, and keep alcohol modest. Those are unglamorous and they matter.
- Keep your own clinician in the loop for vaccines, chronic conditions, and anything that is actually an illness.

Same-day visits are often available, especially on weekday mornings. If another drip on the menu is a better fit for the day you are having, she will say so. If IV therapy is not a fit, she will say that too.
